what no legend very old out of date only shows half the trails I am returning it
The good...- The product does provide both the topo and a hybrid map.- It is displayed nicely on the Kindle.- It is in color.The bad...- The major bad is that the trails are based on old maps. For example, the trail going through Kingston Canyon is listed as a 50" trail, but 2 years ago it was opened to 60" trails.- No Table of contents.- When you click to search or jump to a page, all you see is page numbers. Each of these page numbers should list which corresponding Topo square is listed on this page. The page numbers should also list whether or not this is the topo map, or the hybrid map.- The image clarity is ok while zoomed out. It's obvious the resolution of the images are low when you try to zoom in, which leads me to the next point. Zoom.- Zoom is a joke. You can click and zoom in one level. But when you do, the image becomes blurry. So really the Zoom is pointless.- Navigation is also an issue. Your only option is to go left and right, which is the left and right corresponding topo square.Suggestion for the author...- ***This may not be possible on the Kindle, but here's a thought.***For the Kindle edition, it would be great if on the bottom of each page, rather than show YouTube, Facebook, and Google+ icons (which are not links, but rather a reminder that you can find the author there), place directional arrows or the neighboring square number. For example, if I was looking at square 31, but wanted to view square 25, by clicking the "up " arrow or the number "25", this would take me to that square / page. It would be a much better experience for viewers and would be very helpful. If this isn't possible on the kindle, some way to quickly know where you are at on the grid would be useful, like a pop up map. If the pages are listed correctly, you could quickly jump to the appropriate page.The Summary...I would not recommend this product as your only map source for the trails due to it not being accurate. While I am a fan of maps and such, I would highly recommend you stick with the books and printed maps. If you want to only take the Kindle on the trip, this would be a useful app.I gave it a 3 star rating because I'm not clear on the limitations of the Kindle. If the Kindle edition would have had more descriptive page numbers so that I could quickly jump to the topo square I was looking for, and had current maps, I would have given this a 5 star. Each one of those took off a star.Hope this helps someone.
Great Map.
I bought the paperback, There is no table of contents, no index , no legend for map symbols. no explanation of the map layout, The publisher would do well to look at the FUNTREKS trail maps and guides, also sold at Amazon.
Will come in handy for my future Paiute trips!
