I ended up buying this book as an afterthought alongside their "Classics Book 1" but ended up playing songs from this one much more than expected. It makes for a great change up from a course book (such as Faber's or Alfred's All-in-one) which tend to have rather boring/uninteresting songs in some lessons. It felt great (as an absolute beginner) to play and apply what I'd learned so far in my self study course to songs I recognize and enjoy. Most songs in this book are in the C major key signature and are simplified versions of the original song. I would say that almost all of the songs in this book are within the same range of difficulty/challenge, which means you get a ton of songs to reinforce learning (from another source) without getting too far out of your reach.I highly recommend getting this to supplement a main course book to serve as motivational practice as you progress in learning.
I bought this book for my wife who teaches piano. She really likes this book as the songs are easy to teach and the students really like the songs
Very good, gradual introduction to songs suitable to play when learning piano as an older student or adult.
great for learning alone- I knew how to read the treble clef, but not the bass clef- I used to play recorder as a child- Now I can play some simple songs in the keyboard- I like ve this book.
I’m a piano teacher of many years. I have never before liked an adult piano book as much as I like this one! Timeless songs, great arrangements, ranging in difficulty from fairly easy to somewhat difficult for first year adult students. I liked it so much, I bought one just for myself to enjoy.
Excellent for people who want to be taught by a teacher and to help you learn as you go, even while practicing at home between lessons, or teach your self from this book. Either way. I take lessons, so it's awesome to use during lessons and out side of lessons. Plus it has some really nice music to play to
Level of difficulty is okay but songs are outdated. They may have been popular back in those days.
I have this and the Adult Piano Adventures Classic Book 1, and of the two I find myself opening the Classic book much more often. These popular tunes are too dated to be of interest to my students (who are on the young side.) As with all Faber books I like the layout and composition, and the fingering is easy to follow. This book would be good for older players.
